Authorises access for class 2 heavy vehicles that are B-doubles.
Please note the following supporting documents for this notice:
Provides dimension exemptions from the Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation and conditional height limits for vehicles operating on specified networks, and that meet the other requirements of the notice.
Authorises the use of Vehicle Carriers from 4.3 metres to 4.6 metres in height, or from 19 metres to 25 metres in length, or both, in stated areas or on stated routes, during stated hours of stated days and states the conditions under which these Vehicle Carriers may be used.
Authorises the use of Livestock Carriers from 4.3 to 4.6 metres in height in stated areas or stated routes, during stated hours of stated days and to state the conditions under which these Livestock Carriers may be used.
A B-double permit is required for travel on a road outside of the approved B-double network. The NHVR processes ALL class 2 B-double permit applications except for travel within the Northern Territory and Western Australia. For these jurisdictions, apply directly to the relevant state or territory road transport authority.
Operators should check if their requested route is on an approved B-double route, as they may be able to operate under a gazette notice instead of needing a permit.
If any part of your journey is not on an approved B-double route, you will need to apply for B-double permit through the NHVR Portal.
In the process of seeking consent from the road manager, the NHVR will request the road manager to consider the route to be included as a route approved under the gazette notice.
If you are operating a B-double that does not meet the prescribed mass or dimension limits within the National class 2 heavy vehicle b-double authorisation (notice) 2014 (no. 2), you may need to submit a Class 3 (Miscellaneous) permit application if the requested journey is not on an approved class 3 route.
Note: Operators should check that their vehicle complies with the schedules and conditions in the relevant gazette notice as the permit relevant to this application will reference these same conditions.
